<h2></h2>I went to school at Northwest Missouri State, where I majored in broadcasting. I started my career in television journalism as a reporter and anchor at KQTV in St. Joe. After spending some time gaining experience out-of-state, I was able to come home to Channel 9 as Executive Producer of their morning news with Kris Ketz, Donna Pitman, and Joel Nichols. I got out of the news business in 2009 and headed to California to go to law school on scholarship at the University of California, Irvine. While attending UCI Law, I got the chance to work with Katie Porter as her research assistant.&nbsp; I had no idea she was soon going to become Congresswoman Katie Porter. After law school, and later transitioning into real estate law, I was able to go home to Kansas City. I felt I had to take more action to respond to MAGA's aggressive agenda. With others who shared those feelings, I helped found a group we called “Do Something MO.”&nbsp; The idea behind Do Something is simple: they want to take away services that people depend on, so let’s get busy helping those people.&nbsp;Remind them that it’s Trump and his flock that are hurting them, while we are there to help.We started with 7 people around a table at a coffee shop.&nbsp; We now have more than 1500 people following the group on Facebook and dozens of people have participated in our volunteer work. I’m very proud of what we’ve accomplished and that experience is a big reason I decided to run for this seat in the State House. I’ve seen what can happen when people work together. The close-knit community, great schools, and being a part of the Kansas City metro made it an easy decision. I plan to be here for a long time, and want to keep District 12 a welcoming place for all.I grew up in the northwest Missouri town of Grant City.&nbsp;My dad was a farmer and a small business owner who dropped out of school after the eighth grade to help support his family before serving in World War II. Mom set aside her dreams of attending college and becoming a writer so she could raise a family as a Missouri farm wife. They taught me the value of education; how to work hard; to keep fighting, even when times are tough; to help your neighbors when they can use a hand; and to treat everyone like the human beings they are. To me, that's always been what it means to be an American. Those are the common sense values that helped make this country special, and prosperity a possibility for all.

<h2>Deciding to Run for office was a small first step toward a bigger commitment.</h2>This campaign is a promise to put the Northland first. Missourians vote time and time again for fair representation and the policies we want. I want to protect those interests and stay true to the will of voters. I want to represent the people - my neighbors - and fight for all Northland families. Not just hold the line in Jefferson City, but to stay and fight, not be bullied or bought by billionaire interests. We will knock doors, make calls, and do everything possible to reach every voter in District 12 for this opportunity. Please consider helping that mission, and joining us on the campaign trail. For far too many people these days - prosperity is out of reach.&nbsp; But it doesn’t have to be that way.&nbsp; The cost of living is rising out of control, and there aren’t enough jobs that can even keep up with those rising prices, much less get ahead. We need to make sure that our families can make ends meet. The basics - gas, groceries, healthcare and utility bills - should be affordable for everyone. To help ensure affordability, I will support policies to<ul><li>build affordable and accessible housing</li><li>support education and training for the next generation of workers</li><li>make childcare affordable and accessible</li><li>aid and incentivize small businesses to thrive</li><li>attract new jobs to the Northland </li></ul>Our state is facing some serious issues. The governor’s gift to his billionaire donors last year - the elimination of the capital gains tax - has severely damaged the state budget. Now, he’s promising another kickback to the richest Missourians.&nbsp;He wants to get rid of the state income tax. The part he doesn’t like to mention is that they’re going to increase the sales tax you pay and they’re going to cut government services even further. That means highway and bridge projects get pushed back another year. Families already struggling with inflation get less help feeding their kids. Our schools - already at the bottom of the list when it comes to state funding - will get even less.These are all cuts that affect regular folks and their families, but the handful of people who belong to the 1% class won’t notice any of it.&nbsp; They get all of the benefit of the tax cuts, but don’t share any of the pain these radical changes will cause. I pledge to be a public servant that is transparent about cost of living changes, and fights to put families first.

Everyone deserves an opportunity at economic security, affordable housing, stable and well-paying jobs, and the right to join a union.

Lower the cost of Living

Voters know what's best for themselves. The politicians running Jefferson City seem to think Missourians aren’t smart enough to have a voice in our government. Overturning ballot measures is unconstitutional and corrupt. Gerrymandering districts so legislators choose their voters instead of voters choosing their legislators is absurd and undemocratic.Missourians have come together time and time again to pass ballot measures. Paid sick leave, abortion access, and more have been spoken for by the people. Despite that, Missouri republicans go back on their small-government values and put those same issues back on the ballot.I fully support the work of <a href="https://respectmovoters.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Respect Missouri Voters</a> and their effort to amend the State Constitution to protect the initiative petition process.<img src="https://run.imgix.net/b0eb69f5-a29e-41cf-b0dc-25d772e7e0e6/5386b966-04c2-44bf-9ece-8b6cb705b2cd/5386b966-04c2-44bf-9ece-8b6cb705b2cd.jpg?ixlib=js-3.8.0&amp;bri=0&amp;con=0&amp;sat=12&amp;high=0&amp;shad=0&amp;usm=0&amp;rect=0%2C0%2C1440%2C1440&amp;w=1500" alt="" caption="" align="center" alignwidth="40" variant="framed">

Voters know what’s best for themselves. Democracy is run by the people, not politicians.

Respect the will of Missouri voters

High quality public schools benefit all of us. Schools across the state should be fully-funded, ensuring they can operate 5 days per week. We must do this without increasing the property tax burden of homeowners by stopping the siphoning of money from Missouri’s public schools to benefit the owners of private schools and their for-profit interests.It’s only fair that everyone who benefits - yes, even the wealthy commercial property owners - pays their fair share.&nbsp; The Republicans have had every opportunity to clean up this mess and it’s obvious they aren’t going to do it.&nbsp; They’re trying to destroy our public schools.In his 2026 State of the State address, Gov. Kehoe pushed the idea of "School Choice". This would allow students to enroll in schools outside of their home district. While this seems positive, it's another band-aid on a bleeding budget. Allowing outside students to attend Parkhill schools would overfill classrooms, overwork teachers, and deplete the quality of education for Missouri kids. Why burden Parkhill, when the right thing to do, is fund schools statewide properly?Send me to Jefferson City and I’ll fight to solve this problem by reworking the formula used to fund our schools so they can’t be held hostage by greedy commercial property owners who manipulate the system. I will keep our public dollars in public schools.

Strong public schools benefit all of us. We can achieve this without raising property taxes and by keeping public dollars in public schools.

Fully-Funded Schools

All families deserve affordable and accessible healthcare. No one should have to choose vital medications over other basic necessities, nor should anyone face bankruptcy due to a sudden medical emergency. To achieve this I will advocate for policies to:<ul><li>Protect the Affordable Care Act</li><li>Fight for paid sick leave and Prop A which Missourians overwhelmingly voted for in 2024</li><li>Defend and expand access to abortion care and reproductive health providers.<ul><li>Missourians overwhelmingly voted for amendment 3 in 2024. Republican politicians forced another ban on abortion onto the 2026 ballot, and named it amendment 3.</li></ul></li></ul>Additionally, I believe the only person who should make decisions on a woman's body is that woman in consultation with her health care provider.

No one should have to go without affordable, accessible healthcare, including care that supports women’s reproductive decisions.
