Fully-Funded Schools

High quality public schools benefit all of us. Schools across the state should be fully-funded, ensuring they can operate 5 days per week. We must do this without increasing the property tax burden of homeowners by stopping the siphoning of money from Missouri’s public schools to benefit the owners of private schools and their for-profit interests.

It’s only fair that everyone who benefits - yes, even the wealthy commercial property owners - pays their fair share.  The Republicans have had every opportunity to clean up this mess and it’s obvious they aren’t going to do it.  They’re trying to destroy our public schools.

In his 2026 State of the State address, Gov. Kehoe pushed the idea of "School Choice". This would allow students to enroll in schools outside of their home district. While this seems positive, it's another band-aid on a bleeding budget. Allowing outside students to attend Parkhill schools would overfill classrooms, overwork teachers, and deplete the quality of education for Missouri kids. Why burden Parkhill, when the right thing to do, is fund schools statewide properly?

Send me to Jefferson City and I’ll fight to solve this problem by reworking the formula used to fund our schools so they can’t be held hostage by greedy commercial property owners who manipulate the system. I will keep our public dollars in public schools.
